    Childcare specialists are employed by the family. Families are responsible for wages and any liability incurred from employment.

    FAQs: How long does the recruiting and placement process take?

    Please allow 4-10 weeks prior to your intended start-date.


    We encourage families to reach out to us at least a MONTH in advance from their intended start-date, as the vetting and screening process should never be rushed.


    We can accommodate expedited placements; however, this depends on the nature and scope of your position, your location, whether you're conducting a national candidate search, and the start-date availability of candidates.

    FAQs: I’ve never been an employer before. What are my responsibilities and duties?

    Keep it simple: Be the employer that you’d want to work for!

    FAQs: I'm not sure whether we need a nanny or a governess?

    The term, "governess," comes from the Victorian era (1837 to 1901). A Victorian governess was a woman who taught children in a private household. Her focus was on education not upbringing and childcare.


    A true governess attends to the children’s academic and educational needs—not care needs. Many are certified teachers. Some hold master’s degrees.


    A modern governess is a mixture of a nanny and educator—with a blending of childcare and teaching experience.     Process Your Family Form

    Your family form helps us understand the basics: your childcare needs and a glimpse into what you’re looking for in a candidate. It provides us with an understanding of your offered pay range and expectations.


    Once submitted and processed and the non-refundable retainer + consultation fee ($50) is collected, we will set up a mutually-convenient time to thoroughly assess your needs and expectations through a family consultation. The non-refundable retainer fee is needed prior to commencing your search as we will invest substantial time and resources in vetting and pre-screening viable candidates for your position.


    The deposit will be credited towards your entire placement fee & the "Getting Started Bundle" [over a $100 value] & the "Employer Responsibilities Bundle," are included.


    You'll instantenously receive the "Getting Started Bundle" & "Employer Responsibilities Bundle" (PDF versions) upon payment of your retainer fee.


    Family Consultation

    The goal of our family consultation is to have a better understanding of your family dynamics, environment, children’s personalities and your ideal candidate.


    Our full placement process is extremely personalized and we truly value our clients, our candidates and upholding the childcare and early childhood education industry as a professional industry.


    We want to ensure the best possible placement for you and our candidates. We understand that experience is only one element in a good fit—a personality match and similar values are necessary.


    Individualized Candidate Search & Screening

    We pride ourselves on our personalized and individualized childcare specialist search. All of our candidate searches are tailored to your family.


    We will review candidates in our database that meet your family’s needs and will also conduct a specific search for candidates.


    Each candidate completes an MG application, resume review, social media check, and a face-to-face interview. We use a video conferencing tool, if the candidate is not local. Our MG interview is customized. We will assess her/his qualifications in relation to your position & family needs.


    We will also personally call and speak to references on the phone (childcare NOT character references), conduct a social security trace and a national sex offender registry background check through a third-party investigation firm.


    Receive Candidate Profiles

    Once we’ve narrowed down 2-3 qualified candidate(s) that passed our initial screening, we will e-mail you her/his resume and profile including their background, qualifications, and childcare and/or teaching and tutoring experience.



    Family Interviews & Trial Day

    We’ll happily arrange an interview between you and your pre-screened candidate(s), all in the comfort of your home.


    We recommend the first interview to be parents-only, so you can interview the candidate without any distractions. The second interview should be an “on the job” interview or trial day, where the candidate interacts with your child(ren) under your supervision. Candidates must be paid for trial days.


    Be mindful that candidates are actively interviewing. Your interviewing process is entirely up to you and your family’s discretion.



    Conditional Job Offer & Conducting Extensive Background Check

    When you’ve selected the best candidate for your nanny or governess position and a conditional offer of employment has been made, we’ll then conduct our extensive background check through a third-party investigation firm.


    The choice to hire or be hired is decided by you and your candidate and is contingent upon a successful background check. We also strongly encourage families to personally reach out to references as well.


    Our Getting Started Bundle and Employer Responsibilities Bundle will get you started off right with your new hire and help you understand your responsibilities as an employer. We also refer our clients to HomeWork Solutions for tax and payroll support.


    Set up a time for you and and your new nanny or governess to meet to review and sign your “Family and Employee Agreement” (found in your Getting Started Bundle). You'll send us a completed and signed copy to keep on file.
